Chartres-Style Labyrinth

Labyrinths are ancient designs having one path to and from the center. This design is a replica of the labyrinth created on the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France in the early 1200′s. Labyrinths support us in finding our center and becoming centered. In addition to being a metaphor for our life’s journey, beneficial for reducing stress, balancing chakras, the body’s fluidic system and the right/left brains, they enhance and expand our intuition and creativity.

Labyrinths are ancient patterns that are enjoying a resurgence of popularity not only as tools for walking meditation but also for supporting our life journeys. As archetypes for peace and transformation the single path to and from the center literally helps you find your center and become centered. Never being able to sit still and quiet my mind as traditional meditative techniques suggest, walking meditation seemed tailor made for me activating my curiosity. Little did I know what a powerful tool it would be for me on many levels, including how the labyrinth metaphorically mirrors my life and life patterns.
